INTRODUCING SCDEV THEME SHEER

A WordPress theme built for people who actually know what they want from a theme.

Most WordPress themes give you a blank canvas and call it flexibility. Sheer gives you a working site — one that looks right on day one and bends to whatever you need it to be from there.

It started as an internal theme. Built for our own projects, refined through real use, and eventually polished enough to share. That’s the honest origin story.

WHAT KIND OF THEME IS IT?

Single sidebar. Fixed horizontal navigation. Mobile-first layout that collapses cleanly without fighting you. The structure is intentional — sidebar on the left, content in the middle, header that stays out of the way.

It’s the kind of layout that works for a blog, a community site, a portfolio, or a platform. Not because it tries to be everything, but because the bones are solid enough to carry any direction.

🎨 CUSTOMIZER — ACTUALLY USEFUL

The Customizer in most themes is a graveyard of options nobody uses. Sheer’s is different — every setting in there does something visible.

◆ Background — solid color, image, or a full shortcode-powered slider behind your content. Yes, you can put a live video feed back there if you want.

◆ Header — custom logo, site title, social icons (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest), and a user menu that knows whether you’re logged in or not.

◆ Navigation — horizontal nav bar with a mobile hamburger menu that actually works. Sidebar content can be nav, custom HTML, or both.

◆ Night Mode — a toggle in the footer switches between day and dark mode. The preference is saved per visitor. The site default is configurable. It just works.

◆ Theme Presets — one-click color schemes that restyle the whole site. Switch between them without touching a line of CSS.

◆ Content area width — standard, wide, or full. Adjustable without a page builder.

◆ Featured image height — control how tall post hero images render. Not a fixed value, an actual setting.

◆ Scroll to top button — optional, shows up when you need it.

◆ Custom header and footer — drop in your own HTML or shortcodes
if the defaults aren’t what you need.

🔌 PLUGIN-AWARE

Sheer is built to work with the SCDev plugin ecosystem, but it doesn’t require any of them. If they’re active, the theme knows about it.

→ SCDev Login & Profile active?
The header shows a user avatar with a dropdown — profile link, wallet, earnings, dashboard, logout. All automatic.

→ FCommerce active?
Cart icon appears in the header with a live item count badge. Wallet and My Earnings links appear in the user dropdown for
the right users.

→ Storyboard, Reels, Live, PicoLarge active?

Sidebar shortcode area renders their content natively. The theme doesn’t need to know the details — it just renders whatever you put in the sidebar content field.

None of this requires configuration. It detects and adapts.

🌙 NIGHT MODE — DONE PROPERLY

Night mode in most themes is an afterthought — a dark background with whatever text color was already there. Sheer’s night mode is a full restyle. Every surface, every text color, every border.

The toggle is in the footer. The preference is stored in localStorage. The class is applied to the body before the first paint — no flash, no flicker, no white screen before it kicks in.

Set the site default to night mode in the Customizer and every new visitor lands in dark mode. Returning visitors keep their preference.

📱 MOBILE

The breakpoint is 1180px. Below that, the layout collapses to a single column. The sidebar becomes a slide-in drawer. The horizontal nav becomes a hamburger menu with a dropdown that includes the sidebar content — so your shortcodes and widgets are still accessible on mobile.

Desktop CSS does not bleed into mobile. Mobile CSS does not fight
desktop. They’re separate and intentional.

PERFORMANCE NOTES

No page builder. No Gutenberg dependency. No 400kb of JavaScript loaded on every page. The theme ships with its own CSS and a small navigation script. That’s it.

OG meta tags and Twitter Cards are built in — no SEO plugin required for basic social sharing. Featured images pull through automatically.

The sidebar’s Latest Posts widget rotates randomly every 3 minutes and responds to prev/next arrows. It’s a small thing that makes the sidebar feel alive without any extra plugins.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Sheer is for people who want a real site, not a demo. It’s for developers who want a solid base to build on. It’s for site owners who want to configure things without writing code.

It’s not for people who want drag-and-drop everything. There are plenty of themes for that. This one is for people who know what a sidebar is and want it to work correctly.
